The pricing model
Tiered subscription priced by sessions/month. Session replay is the core product, not an add-on.
Replay-first product positioning
LogRocket is structurally different from per-session RUM vendors like Datadog or Dynatrace. Session replay is not a feature added to a metrics product, it is the core product. The entire LogRocket UX revolves around watching real user sessions, with performance metrics, console logs, network requests, and JavaScript errors layered over the replay timeline. This produces a debugging experience that is materially different from a Datadog-style metrics dashboard.
Because replay is the product, the per-session pricing assumes replay coverage. There is no “basic without replay” LogRocket tier. If you don't need replay, you almost certainly don't need LogRocket; pick a metrics-first vendor instead.
The tier ladder
- Free, 1,000 sessions/month, 1-month retention. Functional for evaluation but not for production commercial workloads.
- Core ($69/month), 10,000 sessions/month, 1-month retention, monthly billing. Effective rate: $6.90 per 1,000 sessions.
- Team ($295/month), 50,000 sessions/month, longer retention, monthly or annual. Effective rate: $5.90 per 1,000.
- Professional, annual-only, custom volume, includes advanced features. Pricing on request.
- Enterprise, annual-only, SSO/SAML, audit logs, custom retention. Pricing on request.
Conditional recording is an add-on
Out of the box, LogRocket records 100% of sessions up to the tier limit. “Conditional recording” (record only sessions matching specific criteria, error occurred, user is in a target cohort, on a specific page) is an add-on feature on higher tiers. For cost-conscious teams, conditional recording is genuinely useful, sessions where nothing went wrong rarely need to be reviewed, and skipping them frees up the session budget for sessions that actually matter.
The session-replay add-on premium
LogRocket's $6.90/1K effective rate at Core tier is significantly higher than per-session RUM vendors that bundle replay (Datadog $4.50/1K bundled, AWS CloudWatch RUM ~$0.10/1K bundled). The premium reflects LogRocket's product depth, pixel-perfect replay rendering (including correct fonts, images, CSS), network request capture, console log capture, and Redux state replay are LogRocket strengths that generic-RUM-with-replay tools don't match.
How LogRocket compares
- Versus Fullstory, direct competitor on session replay + analytics. Fullstory's 30K free sessions/month is more generous than LogRocket's 1K free. Fullstory paid tiers are quote-only. LogRocket paid tiers are transparently published.
- Versus Sentry, Sentry's replay is part of an errors-first product. LogRocket's replay is the whole product. For replay-heavy debugging, LogRocket has the better UX; for occasional replay tied to errors, Sentry is cheaper.
- Versus Datadog RUM, Datadog bundles replay at $4.50/1K. LogRocket at Core tier is $6.90/1K but offers a richer replay experience.
- Versus Hotjar, Hotjar competes on session replay + heatmaps for product/UX teams. LogRocket competes on session replay + technical debugging for engineering teams. Different buyers.
When LogRocket is the right choice
- Engineering teams who debug production issues primarily through session replay.
- Front-end heavy applications (React/Vue/Angular SPAs) where Redux/state replay adds debugging value.
- Teams who already use LogRocket and want to add performance + error metrics under the same SDK.
- Mid-market commercial workloads (10K-100K sessions/month) where the $69-$295/month tier ladder works.
When LogRocket is the wrong choice
- You don't need session replay — LogRocket's pricing assumes replay coverage.
- Very large or very small workloads — the Core/Team tiers are mid-market sized.
- Heavy front-end performance-budgets workflow — SpeedCurve or Calibre are better fits.
- Marketing/UX team buyer — Hotjar or Fullstory better fit non-technical buyers.
